KEEP PROPER HYGIENE

in order to keep everyone comfortable and free to enjoy the night, please make sure you:

  • Shower before any classes, socials, or events
  • wear clean clothes and deodorant
  • bring a change of clothes if needed
  • bring a towel or fan to dry off between dances
  • wear light fragrance
  • practice good oral hygiene (gum and/or mints encouraged)

ASK POLITELY AND ACCEPT REFUSALS GRACEFULLY

when asking someone to dance, ask kindly and clearly; if they decline, do not take it personally and invite someone else to dance.

there are many reasons for followers or leaders to decline a dance:
  • They need a break
  • they do not like the song playing
  • they want to socialize for a bit
  • they do not feel a connection with the person asking (which is perfectly valid and ok!)

Everyone has free will to create their perfect night, so please be respectful of people's decisions.

no unsolicited teaching or criticism on the dance floor

a social is the place to let loose, practice the moves learned in class, and enjoy the company of other community members. so unless your partner explicitly asks for critique or help with a move, do not disturb the flow (and the connection) of your dance by offering unsolicited advice.

Best thing is to wait until after the song ends for this kind of interaction         (if your partner is ok with it).

however, we do support enthusiasm, encouragement, and fun!
